coming awake 3

meanwhile, over on the island
where the minnows newly winged were
minted by trained minnow minters
and blowers who blew life into all
the minnows – that was intended,

for minnow blowers to blow life into
all the minnows minted and newly
winged – an event far more accidental
was the escape of the minnows
minted and newly winged. “Our minnows

minted and newly winged flew away since
guardians fallen into careless
laxity forgot to latch the hooks
to the cubicles specially built
for the minnows minted and newly

winged,” said one forlorn minnow
experimentation specialist,
“but I most fear they’ll not know
they’ll need to wet themselves in fresh waters,
yet that fear is a paltry fear

compared to thinking about my precious
minnows minted and newly winged crossing
into the hostile mainland. They – my precious
minnows minted and newly winged – will
become lunches, or the lucky ones will.”

About Timmy the Scribbler

Love to write all kinds of stuff I love writing so many different kinds of stuff it is a constant struggle to narrow the focus to a manageable handful and let the others go. But a few years ago I dipped my fingers into a poetry pie and of all my uncertainties, one thing that is no uncertainty is that it is one passion that must remain, so maybe that's the one. I do dearly delight in chopping up fictional works into stanzas and syllables.
