2014 #220

well we are all animals,
except our codes and laws
we write and publish
and thus imagination
may save many from victimization,
prosecution, execution,

and fawns may go ahead and purify
and pretty themselves for church
which in a moment of leaving a gate loose
can threaten to wreak a mammoth overload
to even the most sturdy-founded
imagination orchard

because a passage knows a past
where a dress did yet hang still and silent
while a towel was sent to search and sop
a pasture’s marshier corners
and so did upwards of twenty
if not fifty neighboring

multiplicity cultural tokens
who’ll hear again about how men
are fallen and all they’d do
were it not for laws and codes,
so butlers and the butler
academy had to come along

and chapters written on cordiality,
hat-tipping, bowing, letting the lady
proceed first, and churches where constant
reminders are spoke about the beasts we gents
would be without codes, laws, fences, walls,
private dwellings, basements, executions.

About Timmy the Scribbler

Love to write all kinds of stuff I love writing so many different kinds of stuff it is a constant struggle to narrow the focus to a manageable handful and let the others go. But a few years ago I dipped my fingers into a poetry pie and of all my uncertainties, one thing that is no uncertainty is that it is one passion that must remain, so maybe that's the one. I do dearly delight in chopping up fictional works into stanzas and syllables.
